Hey everyone!
We have a great two
weeks coming up! Last week was great a great week! I went on an exchange on
Tuesday to Wednesday with one of the new missionaries in our
zone. It was really cool because he was one of the missionaries I took out
proselyting the first day when they got off the plane. We had tons of fun and
we met really cool people. We taught one of their investigators and they
generally meet with him every day, but for some reason he scheduled the next
appointment for Thursday. We found out why later that night.
We were just walking
to less active members houses and we passed this guy on the street and started
to talk to him. He was going to his night shift and said he would take the book
of mormon and will read it that night. He has a family and everything, he was a
very good contact, and he told us to come back the next morning at 11:00 which
is when they normally meet with their other investigator. Ha! the Lord's hand
in missionary work. It was awesome. It was a back to back exchange.
From Wednesday to Thursday we
did exchanges with the assistants to the president. Those were some amazing
exchanges. I stayed in Encino and had seen some miracles. We found so many
potentials that day. One of them was there former investigator that we have
been trying to get in contact with forever. He finally answered the door and he
was super legit and was willing to take the lessons again. Before we left we
asked him for referrals and he pointed to a house down the street. It ended up
being a Jehovah's Witness, but he took the Book of Mormon and was pretty open about
it. We could probably go back and teach him. At the end of the night we had
like 10 min. before we had to be back in the apartment. So, we just went street
contacting around the apartment complex. Everyone was blowing us off. There was
this one guy who was on his phone. We asked him if he would like a card he just
looked at us and back to his phone. BUT, at the end of the street there was a
lady probably in her 40's just sitting there. She said she had no hope at all. Her dad died when she was 28 and she’s still sad
and depressed. We talked to her about the Plan of Salvation and the
resurrection. How the sting of death is swallowed up in Jesus Christ. At the
end of it we said a prayer with her, and she said that this was a sign. It was
awesome. She totally changed from that conversation. The rest of the week was
pretty normal. We had a special leadership meeting on Friday. They came
out with these new packets for new missionaries to better handle stress. It is
called, Adjusting to Missionary Life. They are pretty awesome actually I love
it. We talked about how can we take stress off other missionaries as leaders
and help them to better manage it. We talked a lot about leadership in general
and more about how to better work with your Bishop and Ward Mission Leader. I’m
super excited for these next two weeks. We have Mission Leadership council this
week and of course the general conference. Then next week Elder Kopischke of
the 70 is coming to do zone conferences. He spoke last general conference in
the last session talking about how we can be accepted of the Lord, so we are
excited about that as well. Oh, I also hit my year mark last Thursday. That was
weird. I don't feel like I've been out here that long, but at the same time I
feel like it has been forever since I've been home.
Love you all!
Elder Larman
