Hello,
Last week was a good
week for the zone and our area. First off, prayer works. We have a lot of less
active members in our area, and as Elder Choi and I were praying over our ward
list we felt like we should go to one. Her name is Sister Trujillo. By the way
Elder Choi is my new companion, he is a Korean. So Elder Choi was here in this
area a year ago and wanted to go see this sister, but it is in an apartment
complex and they are all gated around here so that discouraged him and he
didn't do it. He doesn't really care about that any more though. We went to go
find her home. We got lost and one street was blocked so we were going back and
forth on the freeway, and finally we found the complex. There was a lady
walking around inside who ended up being the manager. She became a potential
investigator and she helped us find Sister Trujillo. We found her and she was
actually like waiting for us. She said, she’d wanted to go back to church, but
didn't know where to go. It was actually the day after her birthday and her
birthday is on the Mexican mother’s day. She and her mom would spend
it together but she died two years ago. Her mom was very active in the church
and she just wanted to know if her mom was still watching over her and then we
showed up. Guess what? She made it to church yesterday, it was pretty awesome.
Next story is that
when we were walking on the street one day we were talking with everyone and
found a pretty solid potential, her name is Esperanza. She gave us her address
and we set up an appointment. When we got to the address it was an apartment
complex and we didn't have the room number, so we prayed to find her. We were
led by the spirit not knowing beforehand where we should go. There was
eventually a door I really wanted to knock on, but some little kid came up and
asked if we were looking for someone and he showed us where the manager was.
Anyway, the room that I wanted to knocked on was hers, so I thought that was
really cool
Next we have some
Sisters in our zone that have really been having trouble finding new
investigators. So Elder Choi and I went to their area to help them. They gave
us a list of a few potentials and we prayed over it to see where to go first.
We picked one or a few, I guess, we prayed specifically to get the sisters a
new investigator to give them hope. The next potential let us into her home, we
taught her a lesson and she became a new investigator. So specific prayer works,
try it out. Our zone as a whole did way better this week. Week 1 this transfer,
we got 4 new investigators and week 2 last week, we got 22 new investigators. Wohooo
so happy.
Anyway, in Mosiah 2:6
it says, "Every man having his tent with the door thereof towards
the temple."
This is a good
metaphor for where our personal priorities are. In Genesis 13:12-13 Lot,
"dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly."
So, where is your tent pitched? Is it towards the temple, or towards the world?
Keep your heart, might, mind, and strength towards the Lord. I love all of you.
Love, Elder Larman
