Hello
Everyone!
This
was a really awesome, busy, tiring week.
So, last Monday after
P-day, we had a lesson with our two new investigators, Cheryl & Neazer.
They are a black couple. They are pretty awesome. We taught them the
restoration, they took it pretty well. Their big concern about other churches
is their organization, so that was pretty cool to show them our church’s organization.
Basically, everything they are looking for is in our church, so hopefully, we
can help them realize that.
Elder Choi had been
sick for the last 5 weeks, but we were too busy that he never got to rest and
heal. So last night, he took what we call the medicine bomb and slept in till
10. So health is no longer a problem.
Tuesday - One of our
investigators, Irma has a sister name Penny. Her sister thought there was an evil
spirit in her house so Elder Choi and I went over to deal with that. It turned
out there were no evil spirits. What was happening was she had a lot of
Catholic literature about purgatory and hell, so she was just super paranoid.
We taught her and read a lot of scriptures with her. She doesn't live in our
area though, so we gave her as a referral. Taking the missionary lessons will
definitely help her. Later in the day as we were walking around talking to
everyone of course because that's what we do. We met this guy who looks just
like snoop dogg. But this guy was crazy. He went off on his interpretation of
Genesis, the Garden of Eden, and he was crazy. I won't tell it in detail
because some of it is inappropriate.
Wednesday - I
went to my first Mission Leadership Council. It was pretty cool. I’ve learned a
lot and that took most of our day. We are getting so busy that we had two
appointments tonight-- scheduled at the same time. Elder Choi and I had to go
on splits to cover both of them. I went to teach our two investigators, Roy
& Vicky. They have a baptismal date for July 14th, I made a calendar
with them so they can see how they can prepare for baptism by that date and
what is required. It went very well, and I'm expecting them to make it.
Thursday - our weekly planning day. We started off by
planning for Zone Training Meeting on the stuff we learned at the missionary
leadership council. That took like 4 hours. We have been working on weekly
planning with exactness lately. The first time it took more than a day. We get
better each week.
Friday - we had the
ZTM ( zone training meeting). It went really well. I hope our Zone applies all
the principles taught. We got an amazing new investigator today. Her name is
Krishawn , so, how this all went down was, she requested the missionaries
through mormon.org. We tried to contact her for like a
week and a half and just never caught her, so we left her our number on her
door. Guess what!!! She called us to set up an appointment. When we went over
there we talked about her family and what not, then she asked us, so how does
this baptism thing work. She is just so solid.
Saturday - again was
pretty busy. We helped a member move. Right after, we had another lesson with
Cheryl & Neazer, we just read the Book of Mormon with them. We had to finish
the preparation for Divinity's baptism. Santa Clarita stake is doing this
awesome missionary youth conference thing. So we had two youth who came to be
companions with us. Elder Choi and his mini missionary went and taught a lesson
with a new investigator, and I went out finding. No luck there. Afterwards, we
had Divinity's baptism, which was awesome. Then, the Ward had a potluck thing
for her.
Sunday - we went
out and pounded on some of our investigators door to wake them up for church.
We had 5 people make it to church today. It was awesome. Two of them surprised
us by coming. MIRACLES HAPPEN. Divinity was confirmed at church today, standing
in that circle with the other Melchizedek priesthood holders feeling that power
and spirit was just another testimony to me that this church is true.
Had another lesson
with Roy & Vicky today they are progressing very well.
Our zone did amazing
this week! They saw a ton of miracles. Our zone found the most new
investigators in the whole mission this last week. Even more than Spanish
zones! WHOOOO.
So this letter is very
long, for those of you who are not lazy and actually made it to the end, I'll
leave you with a little spiritual message. In the very first verse of the Book
of Mormon Nephi says, "Having been highly favored of the Lord." Does
the Lord choose favorites? As we go on we find the answer. In 1Nephi17:35 it reads,
"He that is righteous is favored of God." So does the Lord choose
favorites? No, we choose to be favored
of the Lord by being obedient. As we are obedient and do our best, the Lord
will give us the blessings that He has prepared for us.
I love you guys.
Love Elder Larman
